憲法:"Constitutions function well so long as the competition for power is confined to different groups of the same social class; but they are strained to the limit ,and often break, when their rules become in sufficient to accommdate the power of a class excluded by its very rules"
憲法的發明是資產階級獲得權力和鞏固權力的工具，不過是資產階級彼此互相的鬥爭，憲法這一詞並不出現在現代主權國家崛起之前，憲法只不過是為了去特定回應19世紀的主權問題。
國家:我會把國家想像成一個盤子，盤子的底座是由一個小型的部落或是城邦所演化而來的，而盤子的盤面則是由這一些部落或是城邦發展出的習慣或是風俗所衍生出的文化或是透過學習他人的方式，形成一個共同的價值觀。而人民或是政府則是在盤子上面的菜色，雖然都是在同一個盤面上遵守共同的價值觀，但是都有不同的想法，如同每道菜的味道都不盡相同。而這一些的集合則是國家的樣貌
